Concord's Toys for Tots impacted by government shutdown

CONCORD, Calif.

The program is usually supported by the U.S. Marine Corps. But the shutdown means only active duty Marines cannot participate in any campaigns.

Concord's Toys for Tots program relies heavily on the Marines to collect gifts for children in Contra Costa County. But since the shutdown happened, they've only had two civilian volunteers to keep this year's effort going.

They're worried the slow start will put them behind this year, which they anticipate will be extra busy.
