Oakland International Airport now has a new traffic control tower.

The 236 foot tall tower replaces two air traffic control towers that served the airport for more than 40 years.

A $33 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act paid for constructing the tower.

The federal grant was the FAA's largest single award under the 2009 act.
