Pair allegedly tries to sell stolen iPad back to owner in Richmond

RICHMOND, Calif.

Bobby Alexander, 58, and his daughter Victoria Alexander, 31, were arrested when they showed up at the McDonald's restaurant at 2301 MacDonald Ave. on Thursday to meet the owner of an iPad that was stolen from a Richmond home, Richmond police Capt. Bisa French said.

The meeting was arranged when the owner of the iPad used an app to send a message to the device and asked whoever had it to return the iPad in exchange for a cash reward.

When he got a message back suggesting a meeting, the owner contacted police.

Instead of selling the iPad as planned, the suspects were met Thursday by undercover Richmond police officers, and arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, French said.

French said Bobby Alexander was on felony probation and that a search of his home turned up several more laptops, although investigators have not determined if those electronics were also reported stolen.
