Castro Valley crews investigating cause of water main break

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif.

The water main break was reported just before 7 p.m. near the corner of Seven Hills Road and Santa Maria Avenue.

The rupture of the 12-inch main also caused a sinkhole to form, which partially swallowed and trapped an Alameda County fire truck.

Heavy towing machines were used to pull out the fire truck and crews were able to shut down the flow of water by 10 p.m.
