The CHP says she was driving a black Ford Explorer and pulled onto Highway 17 from Idylwild Road -- directly into the cyclist.
Her Ford Explorer was later found abandoned. The CHP says they have figured out who she is, but cannot find her.
The accident happened Tuesday, but Michael Schaupp died Friday.
Friends of his have set up a website to pay his extensive medical bills and help his family, which includes a son.
