New figures reveal Bay Area leading state in population growth

Santa Clara County grew by 1.5 percent last year, making it the fastest growing county in California. Alameda County came in second. And Dublin is among the state's fastest growing cities with over 7 percent growth.

San Jose's population fell during the recession, but it's back up over a million once again. It remains the state's third largest city, behind Los Angeles and San Diego.

California's total population has now reached beyond the 38 million mark. As of the first of the year, a modest growth rate of just under 1 percent.
