ESPN is reporting Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling has been battling prostate cancer for some time. He was so sick at one point that friends thought he would die from it.

The news comes as the NBA Advisory Committee is moving forward with plans to force sterling to sell the Clippers. The sale would require approval by three-fourths of the leagues' owners.

Meantime, the president of the Los Angeles NAACP has resigned after the group was criticized for plans to give sterling a civil rights award. The award was rescinded after tape of a racist rant by sterling surfaced last weekend.
