One person killed, one injured in San Jose crash

One person was killed and one seriously injured in a two-car accident in San Jose on Friday afternoon.

The collision at North First Street and Tasman Drive was reported shortly after 4 p.m., according to San Jose Fire Capt. Fernando Munoz.

The occupants of one vehicle suffered major injuries, with transported to the hospital and the other declared dead at the scene, Munoz said.

The occupants of the second vehicle, a family of four including two adults and two minors, escaped injury, Munoz said.

At least one vehicle appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, Munoz said.

The collision remains under investigation.
