SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Fleet Week is officially over. The USS America ship left the San Francisco Bay Tuesday late morning.
The ship was commissioned on Saturday at Pier 30-32 by the Secretary of the Navy.
During Fleet Week, the ship provided tours for more than 15,000 visitors. Sailors and Marines also participated in community outreach events at local schools.
The USS America is the fourth ship with that name, but is the first of its class.
