SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It's not the news you want to hear ahead of flu season: doctors are already running short on one form of the vaccine.

USA Today reports two drug companies are experiencing delays in shipping the nasal spray vaccine.

That's leaving some doctor's offices and hospitals with only the type given as a shot to the arm.

But, the Centers for Disease Control says don't be discouraged and don't delay getting your family vaccinated, even if you have to get the shot instead of the spray.

The CDC says it doesn't anticipate an overall vaccine shortage this year.
