SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco's former top cop is now working for the Department of Homeland Security.



President Barack Obama recently appointed Heather Fong as an assistant secretary.



She is now Homeland Security's liaison with local law enforcement agencies nationwide.



Fong became San Francisco's first female police chief in 2004 and she retired in 2009.
