HEALDSBURG, Calif. (KGO) -- As the floodwaters rose, firefighters urged everyone to steer clear of downtown Healdsburg. It was tough to get around but that didn't deter these kayakers from taking to the water.

Stranded pets were also a concern for the Healdsburg Fire Department on Thursday.

Firefighters had their hands full with cats and dogs they saved from the floodwaters.
