Thousands participate in 2017 AIDS Walk in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Thousands of people walked through Golden Gate Park in San Francisco Sunday to raise money for people with AIDS and HIV.
ABC 7 has been a proud sponsor of the AIDS Walk San Francisco event since its inception 30 years ago.
It's the largest AIDS fundraising event in Northern California, and raises millions for local non-profits.

"My team is Annie's Angels," Oakland resident Tyisha Higgins said.
Higgins has been participating in the 10K walk for five years. "My mother and father lost the fight to AIDS, and I just feel like it's a great thing to support the cause and support the services that the AIDS walk provides to so many," Higgins said.
Since its inception in 1987, AIDS Walk San Francisco has raised more than $88 million for HIV programs and services in the Bay Area.
"So, there's a lot more options today, but people just need to know what they are," Ferdinand Garcia said.
Garcia is HIV positive and walks to raise awareness about testing and treatments that allow people to live full lives with the virus.
"People are still becoming HIV positive. My two month old great nephew is actually here, and another reason why I'm walking is to make sure that his generation does not have to worry about HIV."
ABC7 News Anchor Dan Ashley was Master of Ceremonies, and brought down the park with his band "Push" at the post walk show in Sharon Meadow.
