Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton gave a speech at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Saturday and focused on our nation's struggle to control gun violence.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- President Barack Obama left San Francisco Saturday morning, but as he left another powerhouse Democrat arrived.

On Saturday, Hillary Clinton spoke at the U.S. Conference of Mayors where she talked about our nation's struggle to control gun violence.

Mayors from across the country have been tackling a variety of issues this weekend, ranging from a hike in the minimum wage, to access to water, even issues surrounding regulation of Uber and other pioneers of the so-called sharing economy.

During the conference on Friday, Obama talked extensively about the massacre in Charleston, South Carolina and Clinton did the same.

Her speech comes as the puported manifesto of confessed gunman Dylann Roof was discovered online. In it, there were pictures of the 21 year old waving the Confederate Flag in one photo and burning the United States flag in another.

Clinton talked about racism in America and efforts to control gun violence. "I am not and will not be afraid to keep fighting for common sense reforms and along with you, achieve those on behalf of all who have been lost because of this senseless gun violence in our country," she said.

Clinton added that race remains a deep fault line in this country.

Clinton will follow her appearance with a fundraiser in the Mission District at the home of real estate broker Rick Hills.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors continues through Monday.
