SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- A two-alarm electrical fire gutted a San Leandro hair salon and sent a firefighter to the hospital Sunday morning.

The fire at the Stylist Hair Salon at 197 Pelton Center Way broke out around 9:15 a.m. and crews were able to knock down the fire within 20 minutes.

There was moderate smoke and heat damage to the adjacent business, Betty Tily Nail Spa.

The fire prompted the two business to shut down.

One firefighter was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Fire investigators said an electrical malfunction in the salon's facial room caused the fire.

Both salons are owned by two sisters and their customers are sad to see them closed.

"I don't know what to say, I'm at a loss for words because I have a business myself and I can't imagine something like this happening. There's nail salons all over in this area and we just you know sit and wait because they're always so good, clean," Dasheena Madison said.

There's no word on the future of Stylist Hair Salon, but the nail salon will reopen in a few days.
