WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- A dog that survived after being thrown from a moving car in Watsonville has a new home.

The pup named Beverly walked into the waiting arms of a new family over the weekend.

Last month, someone put the miniature pinscher mix and her puppy in a sandbag and threw them out of a car. The mother dog chewed her way out and stayed with her dead puppy until someone found them.

Authorities say a puppy died and its mother survived after they were placed into a sandbag and thrown out of a vehicle in Watsonville, Calif. on Feb. 20, 2015.

The reward is now up to $25,000 to find the person responsible.

Beverly will have a companion -- the family also has another dog named Dobby.
