Petaluma house fire causes $80K in damage

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Firefighters extinguished a fire Saturday evening that caused $80,000 in damages to a Petaluma home.

At 5:03 p.m. firefighters responded to a structure fire happening at a home located at 100 Prince Albert St., according to fire officials.

When firefighters arrived at the location, firefighters noticed the fire coming from the home's garage, fire officials said.

Fire crews were able to confine the fire to the garage, preventing the fire from spreading into the any other parts of the house, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire by 5:20 p.m.

Two of the home's residents were home at the time of the fire and able to get out of the house, along with their cat, prior to firefighters' arrival, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the fire.

The fire heavily damaged the garage's interior walls, ceiling and contents, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, however, the home's owner told investigators he noticed the fire just after resetting a tripped circuit breaker, according to fire officials.
