SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A few thousand people filled San Francisco streets Saturday afternoon for a demonstration of support for Palestinians in Gaza.
For participants we talked to - the rising death toll of kids is most disturbing to watch. They are calling for a cease-fire.
That's something Israeli Deputy Consul General Eyal Naor says is already in effect.
"This was requested by the UN, humanitarian organizations and the United States," he said. "Unfortunately at this moment is seems like a one sided cease-fire; Hamas has been firing rockets."
The large group of demonstrators wove itself through city streets and carried a long white ribbon with the names of people who they say have been killed in Gaza over the last few days.
Near union square they stopped and one demonstrator hoisted an Israeli flag into the air. Despite the group's efforts to obstruct the view of ABC7 News' camera, it was clear that they lit it on fire.
At Justin Herman Plaza, the group ended with a familiar refrain at such events -- chants to free Palestine.
