SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- As the NFL's regular season comes to a close, it's tough not to get swept away by what the future could have in store for the San Francisco 49ers. Following a dismal start this fall, fans now have something to cheer about, after a late season surge with quarterback Jimmy Garappolo at the helm.
In recent weeks, many 49ers fans have been on the hunt for a hot commodity, a coveted Garappolo jersey, which seems nowhere to be found.
At Westfield Oakridge in San Jose, employees at Sports Fever say they receive multiple calls every day from customers inquiring about the availability of the item. Company officials say it's the same story over at their Campbell location in the Pruneyard Shopping Center, where they can't keep the Garappolo jersey in stock for long. The 49ers team store in Santa Clara is also sold out.
Retailers say if you aren't able to find the jersey of your choice in the next week or so, you may not be able to get one until next summer. That's because manufacturers will be focused on producing basketball and baseball apparel in the months ahead.
