SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Boaters at San Francisco's Lake Merced have reason to celebrate. On Tuesday, the boathouse reopened after being closed for more than a decade.

San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department spent over $3 million to renovate the building.

Among the new additions are a community room, a kitchen, an exercise room and lockers.

The Lake Merced boathouse is used by several rowing clubs who store their boats and equipment at the site.

It's also the launching point for kids taking boating lessons.
