2 Santa Clara Co. correctional deputies on leave for alleged assault
Two more Santa Clara County deputies were taken off the job because of the way they treated an inmate.

MILPITAS, Calif. (KGO) -- Two more Santa Clara County deputies were taken off the job because of the way they treated an inmate.

The deputies are on paid administrative leave from the Elmwood Women's Jail in Milpitas after they were accused of assault in an incident that happened a year ago.

The guards reportedly punched and kicked an inmate even though another officer told them to stop.

Sources tell the I-Team one of the guards is Alana Simpson-Hogan.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department is embroiled in other cases of inmate abuse. Three guards were arrested on charges of beating to death Michael Tyree.

And just last month, two guards were criminally charged with beating an inmate and breaking his jaw.

ABC7 News reached out to the Santa Clara County's Sheriff's Office for information on this latest case, but they say they cannot comment on personnel issues.
