DUBLIN, Calif. -- Police say seven people were injured - two of them seriously - when a car crashed into a Mexican restaurant in a Dublin shopping center.

Lt. Nate Schmidt tells the Contra Costa Times that the 56-year-old female driver had just pulled into the parking lot outside Taqueria Los Pericos restaurant on Thursday night when she accidentally accelerated and plowed through the storefront.

Schmidt says six customers and the driver were taken to hospitals. Two of the customers had serious injuries, but no further details were provided.

He says preliminary investigation shows driver error is to blame and alcohol was not a factor.

Schmidt says it's fortunate that there weren't more traumatic injuries.
