TRUCKEE, Calif. (KGO) -- Travelers heading up to the Sierra for the Thanksgiving holiday are in for a real treat - a fresh blanket of snow!

Wednesday's sunrise in the Sierra came more snow; the white fluffy kind that can make driving kind of challenging and the roads slick, but the skiers very happy.

"It's nice and soft, it's cold, it's fluffy," said Alex Banks.

ABC7 News found Northstar open from top to bottom with some sweet powder in between.

"We have a winter wonderland here," said Northstar spokesperson Marcie Bradley. "We have 16 fresh inches of snow out there, our snow makers have been going round the clock with the low temperatures. Happy guests, smiles ear to ear, ear. It's very exciting."

In short, this isn't just any snow. It's good snow, just the way skiers and boarders like it.

"This is light fluffy snow for November, so it's awesome," said Eve Porcello.

Even better, it's just the beginning of the season.

When asked what he's hoping for this season, Phi Nguyen said, "More snowstorms, El Nino."

Northstar got about 16 inches. Snowmaking is in full force at all the resorts thanks to the cold temperatures that are sticking around now that the snow has moved through.

There was also snow in the Bay Area. Sky7 HD was over Mount Hamilton on Wednesday morning where one could see a light dusting of fresh powder, as snow levels dropped below its 4,200 foot peak.
