SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- This was the last fun weekend for many boaters on Folsom Lake this year, all because of the drought.
The lake is a popular recreation area just east of Sacramento. Its depth was measured at just a few inches above 400 feet Monday morning, meaning it's at about 39 percent capacity.
Once it reaches 400 feet, the state parks department will drop the boating speed limit across the lake to just 5 miles per hour.
It's changed because the low level can bring underwater objects dangerously close to the surface.
The speed limit drop is expected to happen sometime this week.
