Milpitas library acts as a cooling center for animals
The Milpitas Library is acting as a cooling center for animals and people on Friday in response to the heat-related deaths of two people in Santa Clara County during the heat wave.

MILPITAS, Calif. (KGO) -- People and their dogs have a place to go in the South Bay if they want to escape the heat.

Santa Clara County libraries will continue to accommodate pets on Friday.

"It's great. It's very wonderful we're able to. She's still very young," said Matthew Batista, a dog owner.

"It's a health concern throughout the entire county right now so it's nice to be able to do a little something that makes it a little easier for people to get through their day," said Stephen Fitzgerald, from the Milpitas Library:

The cool down centers opened after two people died from heat-related illnesses in Santa Clara County during the heat wave.
