ABC7's Cheryl Jennings talked with the president of CARE, Dr. Helene Gayle via Skype, who is in Haiti right now.
"We cannot just look at the emergency phase, we have to realize that we should be in this for the long haul to make sure we stick with Haiti and the Haitian people to really be able to build Haiti in the rebuilding and rehabilitation phase which will take at least a five year period," he said.
CARE is raising awareness this Thursday night about the plight of women and girls in third world countries.
About 500 theaters nationwide will show a movie called "Half the sky," to showcase women and girls overcoming challenges.
