A man was found shot and killed in his car in Oakland early Saturday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers responded to reports of a solo-vehicle crash near the 7100 block of Halliday Avenue, police spokeswoman Holly Joshi said.

Arriving paramedics found the man in a 2006 Mercedes that had collided with a fence in front of 7106 Halliday Ave., Joshi said.

Police initially said that the man was driving when a suspect opened fire on his vehicle, and that the victim hit several parked cars before coming to a stop along the roadway.
