Rules change on pool drain covers

The law was in response to several deaths where children were sucked into an open pool drain and couldn't get out or had their insides sucked out.

On Wednesday the commission voted to reverse course and now want pool owners to put in a back-up system that can shut down the drain's suction.

Critics say this places a substantial financial burden on owners of public pools, especially since money was already spent on the drain covers.
