SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Thousands of Americans become victims of identity theft each year and it can tangle up finances for years.
It happened to a San Francisco school teacher. Within an hour, more than $7,000 was gone. Investigators later told her a woman posing as her had withdrawn the money and obtained a temporary debit card for her account.
The teacher came to 7 On Your Side's Michael Finney for help when the bank wouldn't give her money back.
