Hwy 280 shooting missed 2 kids

SAN FRANCISCO

Luis Solari, 37, was traveling with two children in a 2004 burgundy Honda on the highway between the Alemany Boulevard and Monterey Boulevard exits at about 6 p.m. when the shooting occurred, California Highway Patrol Officer Shawn Chase said.

An investigation has indicated that Solari's vehicle was to the left of the suspect vehicle when shots were fired from the suspect vehicle driver's side into the passenger's side of the Honda, San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens said.

The Honda then crashed into the center divide before drifting across the lanes and stopping in some ivy on the shoulder, Gittens said.

When CHP officers arrived, they found the Solari dead with an 8-year-old and a 7-year-old in the Honda. Both children were uninjured, according to Gittens.

Police said the suspect was in a small, red four-door car. Anyone with information about the shooting can call the police tip line at (415) 575-4444.
