People bound, assaulted in Antioch

ANTIOCH, CA

At about 4 p.m. a man living in the 4800 block of Vinewood Way heard a knock on the sliding glass door to his home.

The victim saw that the suspect had a gun and ran to the front of the house.

The gunman fired a shot through the glass, shattering the door but missing the victim, Orman said. Instead of calling police, the victim went to a nearby Lowe's home improvement store and called his roommate. The roommate met him at Lowe's and the two went back to the house, where they were confronted by two suspects inside the residence, the gunman from the initial confrontation and another male, Orman said. The suspects assaulted the victims, tied them at their wrists and ankles with wire and robbed them of $3,000 cash. The two victims, who were both from Mexico, had been planning to go to Mexico today. A neighbor noticed a disturbance in the home and called police. By the time officers arrived, at least one of the victims had already wriggled out of the wire tying his wrists, Orman said. Neither victim was seriously injured. Orman said it did not appear the victims were randomly targeted and police were continuing to investigate the incident.
