Berkeley homicide suspect to appear in court

BERKELEY, CA

20-year-old Andrew Thomas Hoeftedenfield is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday in the death of Cal student Christopher Wooton.

Police say he stabbed Wootton during an argument outside a sorority house over the weekend.

Police say Wootton, a member of Sigma Pi, was with some of his fraternity brothers and was trying to break up the fight when he was stabbed.

Authorities say alcohol was involved and are asking for more witnesses to come forward.

Grief counselors are available for students at U.C. Berkeley who need them.
