Strawberry Parfait with Granola, Yogurt and Honey
Serves 4 people
- 1 basket of local strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 3 cups Stonyfield organic yogurt
- 2 cups plain granola
- 4 tablespoons Marshals Farm Honey
Special equipment: Cool glasses to serve in.
This is an easy one kids. Spoon in 1/4 cup of yogurt into the glass then top with two heaping tablespoons of granola. Spoon in more yogurt and then add more granola. Add one more layer of yogurt and then place a small handful of strawberries on the very top. Drizzle with honey. Throw in a soon and say yum!
Homemade Pizza with Roasted Brocollini and Pepperoni
Serves 4 people
For the dough:
- 2 1/2 teaspoons dry active yeast
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 tablespoons bread flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon honey
For the tomato sauce:
- 4 cups canned San Marzano plum tomatoes or canned Italian tomatoes
- 1/2 bunch of fresh basil, chopped
- salt and pepper
For the toppings
- 2 bunches oven roasted brocollini
- 1/4 lb sliced pepperoni

The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF) launches it's 3rd year of Kids in the Kitchen with a focus promoting healthy and active summer vacation for kids from around the Bay Area.

Hands On Gourmet Executive Chef Stephen Gibbs will fire up healthy twists on Bay Area 'Healthy & Active Summer Vacation Kick-off' menus during a fun-filled afternoon where children from JLSF-supported community programs will be able to roll up their sleeves and cook alongside a team of chefs in Dacor's outdoor teaching kitchen. JLSF volunteers will engage participants in fun activities focused on raising awareness about childhood obesity and poor nutrition. Hands On Gourmet staff will also provide expert advice highlighting healthy habits, tips, and celebrity recipe contributions also found on the "Kids in the Kitchen" website, kidsinthekitchen.ajli.org. Sports 4 Kids will have activity areas keeping the kids happy and very busy in between cooking. Each child will leave the event with a reusable bag filled with healthy snacks, child-friendly information, and recipes related to healthy eating and nutrition.
