In Liberty County, that huge sinkhole in Daisetta is now home to an alligator. Residents believe the reptile was washed into the crater by water from surrounding swamps.

The sinkhole started out as a 20-foot hole and grew to about 900 feet across, swallowing oil tanks and telephone poles.
