Sheriff's and county fire officials say an Island Express private tour helicopter went down shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday on the island's west end near Two Harbors.
A fire dispatcher says it sparked a small fire that was quickly doused.
The chopper went down near the Banning House lodge. Weather at the time was rainy and visibility appeared to be poor.
Island Express won't comment on the crash.
