Stanford, UCSC to allow co-ed rooms

PALO ALTO, CA Beginning this fall, Stanford and u-c Santa Cruz will allow co-ed dorm rooms. Officials say the co-ed room option initially arose from concerns about the safety of gay and transgender students on campus. But now the trend has spread to include young men and women who want to room together. More than 20 other universities already allow co-ed room options to upperclassman.
