The checkpoint will begin at 9 p.m. on Willow Pass Road at Market Street and will run through 3 a.m. Saturday.
The checkpoint is one of four that will be conducted over the next year as part of the city's "Report Drunk Drivers; Call 911" campaign, which is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The campaign will also include saturation patrol nights where officers will patrol the streets looking for impaired drivers and warrant sweeps in which officers will arrest people who were cited for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol but failed to show up to court, police reported.
