The boy was home alone when he set off the firecracker. He lost several fingers on his right hand, shattered an eardrum and was blinded in his right eye.
The boy's mother, Adonneka Gilchrist, 26, was charged with child endangerment, possession of stolen property and possession of an explosive device.
