Police dog helps sniff out suspects

ANTIOCH, CA

Antioch police received a call from a clerk at the 7-Eleven store at 2707 Contra Loma Blvd. at about 2:42 a.m. saying two males had just robbed him. The clerk also advised police that one of the suspects had been carrying a handgun.

Police set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspects.

One officer spotted the pair in the area of Claudia Court running on foot toward state Highway 4.

A police canine was put on the trail and the dog tracked the suspects to some shrubbery along the Highway 4 offramp at G Street.

Melvin Bryant, 25, and a 16-year-old boy were allegedly identified as the two who had robbed the 7-Eleven clerk. Bryant was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and the teenager was taken to juvenile hall, also in Martinez.
