Tesla opens first Bay Area dealership

MENLO PARK, CA

The /*Tesla*/ Motor Company opened its first northern California dealership Tuesday.

The electric sports car has a range of more than 200 miles per charge and generates the equivalent of about 300 horse power.

One potential buyer called it the perfect no-compromise greenhouse gas beater.

"I do own a Prius, but this is more of a sports car," Paul Hewitt said. "This is the look and feel of what I'm used to driving."

A Tesla test drive requires a $5,000 deposit. 1,100 buyers have already signed up.
