It goes from zero to 60 mph in a lightening fast four seconds, it is electric and it is for sale in Menlo Park.

The Tesla Motor Company opened its first northern California dealership Tuesday.

The electric sports car has a range of more than 200 miles per charge and generates the equivalent of about 300 horse power.

One potential buyer called it the perfect no-compromise greenhouse gas beater.

"I do own a Prius, but this is more of a sports car," Paul Hewitt said. "This is the look and feel of what I'm used to driving."

A Tesla test drive requires a $5,000 deposit. 1,100 buyers have already signed up.
