One of the state parks forced to close by the Big Sur lightning fire will reopen to campers this weekend.

Officials announced Thursday that the campgrounds at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park will reopen Friday, along with a number of trails, some swimming holes and the Big Sur Lodge.

Andrew Molera State Park is still serving as a fire camp and command center, but is slowly being reopened as well, as is Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park to the south.

The Big Sur fire, known as the Basin Complex fire, is one of hundreds of fires ignited by a lightning storm one month ago. It has burned 141,000 acres and is now 72 percent contained. Full containment is not expected for another week.
