Bill would award prizes to kids who test well

Sacramento lawmakers are considering a novel new way to reward students who excel on standardized tests.

Santa Clara State Senator Elaine Alquist's bill would award prizes to kids who test well.

Alquist says students need an incentive because the test results are used to measure schools, not individual students, leaving them less motivated to do well.

Alquist says the rewards could include tickets to movies, concerts and sporting events, and restaurant coupons.
