Victim stabbed with broken broom

MARTINEZ, CA

Officers responded to reports of a fight among 10 to 15 people involving brooms and bats at Foster and Talbart streets at about 12:30 a.m., police said.

The victim suffered stab wounds to the shoulder and stomach area, and was transported to John Muir Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Authorities believe the fight happened after a verbal argument that took place earlier at a nearby park. The fight does not appear to be gang-related, police said.

The suspect in the stabbing fled the scene before officers arrived and has not been identified, police said.
