Wave pools required to use life jackets

Wave pool operators will be required to provide free life vests to kids and non-swimmers starting in January under a law approved by the state Assembly yesterday. Senator Elaine Alquist's bill also sets a statewide standard for the number of lifeguards and mandates adult supervision. It came in the wake of a four-year-old boy's death last year in Santa Clara. It still requires the governor's signature to take effect.
