Man stabs roomate with pruning shears
The suspect, tentatively identified by police as Antonio Francisco
Amancio, 30, was booked for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon
and resisting arrest, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Lisa Banayat said. Police are
using fingerprints to confirm his identity, Banayat said.
The victim, Camerino Martinez-Gutierrez, 19, walked into a local
hospital around 2 a.m. today with stab wounds to his face, neck, head and
torso, Banayat said. He said his roommate attacked him at their home in the
900 block of Aston Avenue, Banayat said.
Police found the suspect locked in a garage at the duplex. He was
intoxicated and refused to comply with police orders, Banayat said.
Officers forced their way into the garage and subdued the man,
Banayat said. Two suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.
Police recovered the pruning shears at the home, Banayat said.
After receiving medical clearance, the suspect was booked into the
Sonoma County jail.
Martinez-Gutierrez is still hospitalized but is expected to
survive, Banayat said.
