Four tree sitters to be in court Thursday

The final four UC Berkeley tree sitters will be arraigned tomorrow on misdemeanor charges of trespassing, and violating a court order to abandon their perch.

The four came down on Wednesday, ending 21 months of living in an oak grove on campus, near Memorial Stadium, creating a short melee.

But a pending lawsuit threatens to again stall the athletic facility project.

Homeowners near the stadium say the new athletic facility will make it harder for authorities to respond to emergencies like fires and earthquakes.
