McCain faces tough questions on The View

He falsely claimed that Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sen. Sarah Palin has never requested earmarks as governor of Alaska.

As governor, Palin has cut back on pork barrel requests, but in her two years in office, Alaska has asked for nearly $750 million in earmarks – the most per capita in the nation.

McCain's wife Cindy joined him later in the show. She said she disagrees with Palin's view that abortion should be illegal even in cases of rape and incest.

Cindy McCain also declined to answer a question about how many houses the couple owns, saying it was not relevant to the campaign.

McCain also appeared on Rachael Ray.
