TSA looks into scanning cars at airports

The federal government thinks airport X-ray scanners could be used to help prevent car bombings.

USA Today reported the Transportation Security Administration is testing technology currently used to screen passengers to see if it can detect explosives in vehicles as they enter airports.

Vehicles get a low-intensity X-ray as they pass under a 21-foot-high arch-like machine.

The devices are already used to protect some U.S. military bases.
