Organizers of Coastal Cleanup Day set for Saturday say during last year's event more than 60,000 volunteers turned out across the state. It's estimated more than 125 tons of trash was picked up from the beaches along San Francisco Bay.
The effort comes just after the environmental group Save the Bay released a list Wednesday of what it considers 23 of the dirtiest waterways along San Francisco Bay.
The group identified Cerrito Creek in El Cerrito as the worst site because of all the windblown trash and urban runoff that drops into it, then flows into the bay.
