Two woman arrested for burglary

Two of three women suspected of breaking into a woman's Prunedale home and assaulting her Saturday were arrested, according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.

Irene Antoinette Chavez, 35, Sylvia Irene Acosta, 39, and Angie Valdez, who is in her 40s, allegedly entered through the kitchen window of the victim's home at 17632 Vierra Canyon Road shortly after 5 p.m.

The suspects allegedly threw a medium-sized kitchen appliance at the victim and punched her multiple times, according to the sheriff's office. The victim suffered numerous bruises and cuts, but refused medical attention.

Acosta and Chavez were later arrested on various charges, the sheriff's office reported.
